Written and illustrated by Cozbi A. Cabrera.

After a day of being teased by classmates about her wild hair, Mackenzie reaches her breaking point and turns to her wise and supportive neighbor, Miss Tillie, for advice. In the calming setting of Miss Tillie’s lush garden, she uses the beauty of nature as a metaphor to teach Mackenzie that caring for her hair is neither a burden nor something to fear. Above all, Mackenzie discovers that her natural Black hair is truly beautiful.
